Signs of Pregnancy
With today’s technological advances in medicine and chemistry, it’s possible to test yourself with a pregnancy kit just 2 or 3 days after you have missed a period. Some women, however, have irregular periods, and so perhaps wouldn’t realize that they had missed a period at all, or even considered that they might be pregnant.
There are signs of early pregnancy, however, that are common in the very early stages such as tender, swollen breasts or, in these early weeks, you may notice the areolas around your nipples appear darker than normal too. These are the early signs of pregnancy.
It’s very common in the first weeks to find yourself making unusually frequent visits to the bathroom to urinate. The body increases the circulation of blood during pregnancy and produces excess fluid. Also, the expanding uterus puts pressure on the bladder causing frequent urination as well.
The body also increases the hormone progesterone and this leads to a feeling of extreme tiredness, whereas the increase in the hormone estrogen can affect your sense of taste in early pregnancy and produce a metallic taste. One of the first early symptoms of pregnancy, and one of the most common signs of pregnancy must be morning sickness.
In the early months, when you’re already feeling tired and emotional morning sickness can be very trying. Try not to get up in the morning before you have had complete rest and eat a dry biscuit or two with a cup of tea sipped slowly. Taking your time in the morning will help you.
Of course, other things during the day can also trigger “morning” sickness, such as the smell of certain foods cooking. Wearing loose clothes will help you during the day as swelling happens throughout the day.
If you experience these signs of pregnancy, have a pregnancy test as soon as possible and remember, there may be another underlying reason for your symptoms so you should visit your doctor if any of these symptoms persist and your pregnancy test is negative.
